PSO Training Overview
The State of California requires you to take 16 hours of security training when you register as a PSO and 2 hours more each year you are a registered PSO. The Bureau of Security Investigative Services is the CA government department that determines the PSO training course content outline.
A PSE must:
- Maintain employee records for all PSOs
- Maintain training records for all PSOs.
AB 2515 passed in 2022 requires that beginning January 1, 2023 PSEs must maintain the above records in much the same way as a PPO must maintain records for its security guards. The BSIS enforcement team began conducting scheduled inspections of PSEs in 2023 to ensure compliance with these requirements.
